| Well, I can't find the information about the flower. However, being as the silverskull butterfly is carnivorous... I suggest we follow something along the same lines. I don't know off hand of any except the Venus Fly Trap. I'll definitely dig more into this. |

Who says the plant has to be real?
You could design a cross between a venus fly trap and a rose... call it the Wiles of Love rose or the Beguiler Rose. Or some other combination and name. A mix between a rose and poison ivy... call it Love Lies Itching.
Or some mundane plant of false and threatening design. The Boney Petals daisy, which has markings on the petals in the shape of a bone.

- Summary: No solid constructive criticism of flag and coat of arms just yet. Both Whit and Neike think it will be a good idea for this to be discussed last.
- Decision: None.
- Further discussion: All of it, really, except postponed until the very end.

Decided (objections still possible):
1 . Currency - signum
3 . Animal - Silverskull butterfly
4 . Leader Title - Archon
7 . Citizenship Name - Arcan
Chronically undecided:
2 . Anthem - Lyrics/non-lyrics unresolved. Genre not yet debated (current suggestion - electronica). Specific song definitely not debated yet.
5 . Motto - Nor real suggestions yet.
6 . Plant - BLusk suggested a few, Leiren didn't find what she was looking for, do I have to go back to the drawing board about this one? Heh.
8 . Flag - Undiscussed.
9 . Coat of Arms - Undiscussed. |

Well, as you already know, I like it. What does the maroon represent? In fact, what does the flag as a whole represent...?
(By the way, your nicesilver version pwns. Best. Silver. Ever. Silvery silver, so to speak! This is where Paint clearly fails, and I must withdraw from attempting any further silvery goodness. ) |

In point of fact, it means nothing at this point, beyond just me monkeying around with your base design. Meaning is what you bring to things, not really what you take from them.
More to the point, it was a rough design showing a little of what could be done with the rough parameters of the DA flag provided thus far. I actually should look at the one in the Wiki a little more carefully and see if the symbols used therein could be easily translated to this rough design.
Translation: Take the symbol as currently is and put it on this flag in silver. Admittedly, I find the current design http://dusk.datavibe.net/wiki/images/thumb/a/a2/Dark_Arcadia_-_Flag.gif/150px-Dark_Arcadia_-_Flag.gif to be a trifle complex for a national flag, as I feel a flag should be a bold symbol of your nation, rather than an art contest for Most Detailed Dude with a Pickaxe on a Mountainside... see the Nevada flags and license plates for an example. As such, I favor strong strokes rather than subtle ones, clear meanings over complex representations.
But then, I'm just a guy with GIMP and a few filters.
Brian
P.S. I'd like to play with the existing prism design a bit, too. A few strokes to make the existing meaning a bit more clear, and the existing meanings of the flag could easily be translated to a new one. |

And one more with a more DA-themed symbol rather than generic. It still has a bold flavor, but simple lines and with a slightly more simplistic representation.
